The Szeret-Klézse Foundation had its first court-day today at the Bákó County Courthouse (Judecatoria Judeteana Bacau in Rumanian).

The Bákó County Education Inspectorate that requested the courts to put a stop order, banning all activities of the Szeret-Klézse Foundation, is suing the foundation.  Similar to the lawsuit initiated by the same education inspectorate against the Association of Csango Hungarians from Moldova the allegation is that the foundation organizes “illegal” education activities for the Csango children.

Note that the "illegal education activities" of teaching Csango children in their maternal language is in fact a legal constitutional right expressed in the Constitution of Rumania, paragraph 6 [Minorities] subsection (1) stating that “The State recognizes and guarantees the right of persons belonging to national minorities, to the preservation, development, and expression of their ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious identity” and in subsection (2) “The protecting measures taken by the Rumanian State for the preservation, development, and expression of identity of the persons belonging to national minorities shall conform to the principles of equality and non-discrimination in relation to the other Romanian citizens.”

This lawsuit clearly indicates the direct involvement of the Rumanian government in the forceful assimilation of the Csango people who are being denied their basic constitutional rights, by those who should upheld it.
