Ragin Skies

Ragin Skies Overview

Ragin' Skies is an overhead shooter in which you play the role of Cliffton Spoon(aka Spoonman), who pilots a jet fighter. Through the game, you use the money from killing your enemies to buy new equipment for your jet.

Graphics

They have a sort of anime feel, as in, they're not supposed to look realistic, but they're very well done. Explosions, clouds, and debris also show evident work. When your enemies' jets crash into the ground, they even leave a trail as they skid across the landscape far below.

Overall Graphics: Good

Sound/Music

The music is ok, but not great. And the sound is rather annoying, in particular with the vulcan cannon. Probably better to play with the speakers off, or at least on a low volume.

Overall Sound/Music: Below Average

Gameplay

The game starts out kind of slow, until you buy the better engines and maneuvering devices. Then you're ship will be zooming from one side of the level to another in a matter of seconds. The overworld map is used very well, actually requiring some skill just to get to your mission. The controls are simple, and the physics are good. But despite all this, once I beat Ragin Skies once, I didn't really feel compelled to go through it again. So the replay value is the only keeping this down.

Overall Gameplay: Good

Story

Aha, here's where Ragin' Skies shines. The plot isn't good because of it's depth, but rather it's humor. Despite Darthlupi's apparent lack of grammatical skill, the dialogue is some of the best in any game. I especially loved the way that several movie cliches were used in the plot.

Overall Plot: Good

Overall

Ragin's Skies is an addictive, action packed, overhead shooter with great graphics and funny dialogue. It's worth the download.
