Character Quality

by Eric Swanson

Leadership is one of the most sought after skills in this society.  From military to business to social functions, organizations need great leaders to help organize, inspire, and train their subordinates to reach a common goal.  Guardian Supervisors or eSTJs make great leaders due to the attributes of their personality.  The Keirsey Online Character Sorter considers me a Guardian Supervisor and I plan to be a great leader to whatever organization I am a part of.

eSTJs love to take charge and work hard.  They are very outspoken individuals and usual seek leadership roles of any organization. Guardians join a variety of service organizations or associations and support them through their faithful attendance and by taking a leadership role. (Keirsey)  Supervisors are hard working individuals.   It starts at a young age when in school they are the ones to do all their homework, respect the teacher and her ways of teaching, and follow directions very well.  Supervisors have a great sense of perseverance that helps to be so hard working.  Having a hard working take-charge attitude characterizes one aspect of the eSTJs.

The Guardian Supervisor is also characterized by their traditional role in human relations.  Supervisors tend to have a large group of friends maintained throughout their lifetime.  They relate and talk easily with others.  Supervisors look forward to social gatherings and ceremonies like weddings, class reunions, and award banquets. (Keirsey)  This outgoing, extroverted attitude is what characterizes the typical Guardian Supervisor.

After reading the characterization of a Guardian Supervisor I find that I am motivated and reflective of what I read.  I find that the characterization of hardworking, take charge attitude with sociable tendencies mirror my real attitude.  I am able to use this insight of myself to help me to be a better leader now in the Brigade of Midshipmen and later on in my future commission in the Marine Corps.  Knowing myself can help me to know where my strengths and weaknesses lie.  With that knowledge I will be able to constantly improve myself in those areas I am weak in.

I was characterized by being a Guardian Supervisor or an eSTJ.  They are persons of high duty and loyalty to work, organization, and friends.  These are the qualities that will make me a great leader someday.
