USBICEL05-jan-2004 : this project is stalled for the moment. FonctionsUSBICEL means "Ultimate Sample-Based Integrated Composition Environment for Linux". It will allow to compose music pieces by arranging sound samples. Its originality relies on its open architecture: USBICEL allows to use not only "regular" sound samples (WAV files), but also sound files from any source, as long as they can be splitted into sound files. For instance, the version being developed includes as possible sound sources:
USBICEL's open architecture will allow to add new file types without problems, turning USBICEL into a sound file integrator. USBICEL will then be able to play the piece, in whole or in part, by using a back-end to the tool mixbas. For a better result, USBICEL will also allow to place exactly the sound sources in a virtual room, and then to build the resulting sound file, with or without reverb simulaton. This will be done via another back-end to the tool VSpace. The development is going well and USBICEL is in its debugging phase. I hope to have news in the next few weeks...
