Class Procedures  -  Mr. Tippetts

Hello, let me introduce  myself, I am Mr. Tippetts and  I  am  your students physical  education  teacher.

My philosophy about PE is that PE is as important as any class because a healthy body helps ensure that students will perform at their best during their academic subject. I also believe that all students can succeed in and pass PE.  That does not mean that it is a guaranteed  “A”.  Students who participate fully each day will easily pass the class with a “C” or better.  However like any other class, in order to receive an “A” or a “B”, they must demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of the different activities and concepts. They must also demonstrate an understanding of how to achieve fitness for life.  Students will also be expected to demonstrate improvement in skills.  I also expect highly skilled students to help other students achieve these goals.

Students will be expected to keep information that they have received throughout the course, as there may be a semester final each semester.  Some information such as bones, muscles, and stretching will appear on each test and quiz.  They must also keep their work to be able to double check their grade.

Homework

Aside from studying for tests and quizzes and practicing skills, homework will be kept to a minimum.

Hopefully students will learn to appreciate a variety of different sports and activities and more importantly, they will better understand how their bodies work and how to maintain their bodies so that they may lead a healthy life.

I have a web site that will have dates for assignments, tests and other important dates for the class.  It will also post important announcements.  Eventually there will be links to another site where you can get copies of information, and assignments given out in class if you loose the copies given to you.

                                         www.schoolnotes.com/94536/e.tippetts.html

In an attempt to decrease the amount of paper used and copies made I will also put the main unit assignments on the Centerville Jr. High Server and the students can download them from there from school or any computer with internet access.  This will save having to waste paper when students choose not to do the work.  This also allows them to get extra copies if they loose them.  On the other side will be directions to access the server.

How to access the CJH server:

If at school:

Log onto the computer as a new user.

Enter your Student ID number where it asks for User Name

Enter your last name for password.

Go to my computer and click on vol1 on cjh server.

                      Click on the PE folder

Click on the correct Period folder

(Click  on the information file for the proper unit if it is here.)

                     Click on your folder

                     Click on the homework file.

If on another computer out side of the system:

Go to the url:  cjhstorage.fremont.k12.ca.us   (do not use www in front of this address)

Click on “click here to log in.”

Enter your student ID number for User Name

Enter your last name for password

Click on the folder that has Vol1 in the name

                  Click on the PE folder

Click on the correct Period folder

(Click  on the information file for the proper unit if it is here.)

                   Click on your folder

                   Click on the homework file.

If you are working on the document at school you may save it to your file where I can access it to grade it, just let me know.

At this time if you are working from a non-school computer you cannot save it to your file. (We are working to change that.)

However you can work on it and type in answers and print it out.  If you can’t finish it in one session save it to a file on your hard drive or a disk then work on it later.  Print it out when it is complete and turn it in on the due date.

Mark the appropriate box on the next page and have your parent sign it.  Then return that page to me tomorrow.
