ROANOKE, Va. Roanoke police say a 13-year-old boy was injured by a police dog when authorities arrived at a Wal-Mart to break up a large brawl.
Police also took a teenager who was armed into custody after the incident.
Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson says officers received reports of gunfire and a fight involving 20 to 50 minors Saturday in the parking lot outside the Valley View Wal-Mart. When police arrived, a large group of youths fled.
Johnson says the 13-year-old boy was hiding behind several cargo boxes and refused to come out after police ordered him to. Officers then let a police dog loose on him. He was bitten on the arm and released the same night from a local hospital.
