BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A boy needed more than 180 stitches earlier this month after being mauled by a Washington County police dog. "My mom's boyfriend is a cop and he has a cop dog in the house and he just bit my brother in the face," the victim's 16-year-old sister told a 911 operator after the Nov. 5 attack.

Three children were home alone with the dog when it attacked 12-year-old Tyler Cox, biting his face, arms and upper body. Recon is handled by the mother's boyfriend. The mother and boyfriend are both Washington County sheriff's deputies.

The sheriff's office told KOIN News 6 that the dog was locked in the garage and was let out. Cox reportedly used the animal like a pillow. However, the boy's father, Ron Cox, doesn't believe that the children let out the dog.

He told KOIN that he didn't feel comfortable having the dog around his children when they visited his ex-wife.

    The case is under review.

Recon, with the department since April, is off duty during the investigation.
