BUDAPEST, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Hungary's possible next interior minister Laszlo Toller was bitten by a police dog during a first division soccer match in a clash of fans and police, the national news agency MTI said on Sunday. Toller as well as being the mayor of Pecs is the president of the city's soccer club which visited Kaposvar and was beaten 2-1 late on Saturday.

Police intervened after Pecs fans started to throw chairs into the field during the second half, and the mayor, who was trying to calm down the fans, was bitten by a dog on the hand.

Toller may become interior minister in the new Socialist-led government to be set up by incoming Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany in the coming days, according to press reports .
