Fallout from the clashes at the Summit of the Americas in Argentina spilled out onto the streets of Montreal at rush hour on Friday, leading to the arrests of four protesters, police said Saturday.

Montreal police spokesperson Olivier Lapointe said more than 150 people took part in a protest against the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas as part of what was dubbed the Anti-FTAA Street Carnival .

Police dispersed the crowd after someone set fire to a box-spring. Lapointe said the fire became dangerous after a mattress was added. Police arrested four people for unlawful assembly, mischief and assault with a weapon.

Some of the protesters carried Molotov cocktails and burned American and Canadian flags, Lapointe said.

The four suspects will appear in court on Nov. 18.
