Rev Knolly Clarke, former Dean of the Anglican Cathedral has come out against the Free Trade Area of the Americas, claiming that it did not belong to Trinidad and was designed by the United States to dominate small countries.

"America wants to dominate the word and that is the purpose of the FTAA," said Clarke, as he addressed Labour Day celebrations in Fyzabad Saturday.

He said the US had divided the world and called for opposition to the FTAA.

Clarke said religion, ethnicity, and politics had divided society and the time had come for something to be done about this division.
