A South Florida filmmaker says his pictures of confrontations between police and protesters during November's Free Trade Area of the Americas meetings show officers using excessive force.
"I have a hole in the side of my head the size of a golf ball. I was shot with what they call a bean bag," Carl Kesser said.
Tuesday night Miami Police Chief John Timoney appeared before the civilian investigative panel, a group that is evaluating how police handled the FTAA convention. Timoney told the panel his version of what he's calling a successful police operation, but Janet McAiley, a panel member, was not fully sold.
"The fact that police shot at people's heads is of great concern to me," she said.
The panel says they want to hear from anyone involved in the FTAA protests. They are planning a public hearing in January.
Channel 10 tried to show Timoney Kesser's footage, but he refused to watch.
