Hosting the G-8 summit in southern Alberta is expected to bring in millions of dollars in revenue to Calgary and the province.
That's according to a pre-summit report produced for Tourism Calgary.
The report says the Calgary region stands to gain $193 million. Provincially, the number rises to more than $243 million.
The report also predicts the province will receive more than $20 million in tax revenue.
Mayor Dave Bronconnier says Calgary hasn't seen those kind of numbers since the city hosted the Olympic Winter Games.
The accounting firm of PriceWaterhouseCoopers has been commissioned to produce another report after the G-8 summit is over to detail the actual economic benefits.
