The G8 activist events in our city are well underway.
One of the largest is expected to be a protest planned for tomorrow night outside the stampede grounds where the city is hosting a party for G8 delegates and accredited media to showcase Calgary.
The barbecue is by invitation only and the invites were limited so activists are holding a street party of their own to demonstrate against the city and the G8, and draw attention to local issues.
Activists will begin gathering at Memorial park at 7pm tomorrow night.
The parade will leave at 7:30 and wind up outside the stampede grounds where organizers are planning a giant street party.
A Canadian church justice co-alition held a peaceful yet noisy demonstration outside Knox United church this morning where co-alition members were joined by representatives from Africa and other third world countries.
They're demanding the cancellation of the massive debts they owe G8 countries.
The African representatives say many of the problems in their countries have been caused by G8 economic policies.
They say poverty and other issues can only be solved if African debt is forgiven.
The inter-faith justice co-alition has collected 10-thousand petitions from Canadians supporting their call for debt cancellation.
Those petitions are now being sent to the G8 leaders.
