Melbourne protesters march against WTO Rallies have been held around the world in solidarity with protestors at the World Trade Organisation meeting in Mexico.
Three-hundred protesters gathered outside the State Library in Melbourne on Friday night and later marched down Swanston Street.
Spokeswoman Cobina Crawford says the WTO stands for corporate globalisation and war, and does not care about the sovereignty of developing countries and the plight of the poor.
Ms Crawford says American actions in Iraq speak for themselves.
"You only have to look at Iraq and they had awarded a lot of the reconstruction contracts before they dropped the first bomb, not to mention their stipulation that American corporations and so forth they privatised their water system," she said.
"Actually before the war Iraq had a near universal healthcare system and so forth and all of that will be adversely affected."
