INTERROGATIVE
PRONOUNS
Interrogative pronouns (and interrogative adjectives and adverbs) ask
about unknown information. To form
questions, choose an appropriate interrogative pronoun to replace the unknown
item. The interrogative pronoun is
placed at the beginning of the question:
Examples:
Verb Question: Do you like (anchovies) on your pizza?
Information Question: What do you like on your pizza?
(anchovies
is replaced by the interrogative pronoun what)
Verb Question: Is she working (at that restaurant)?
Information Question: Where is she working?
(at that
restaurant is replaced by the interrogative adverb where)
