POSSESSIVE
NOUNS
Possessive nouns are formed by adding an apostrophe (') and an "s"
to a noun. For plural nouns which end
in "s", just add an apostrophe.
Examples: the name of the boy ---> the boy's name
the legs of the chair ---> the chair's
legs
the rights of the workers --->
the workers' rights
the leader of the people ---> the people's
leader
Exercise: Replace the underlined
phrases with a possessive form using 's or s'.

Note: -The subject form
is generally used for the doer of an action.
-The object form is used
for the receiver of an action, and it
is also used after
prepositions.

Note: Personal possessives are never
used with an article. For example,
we can say "this is her book", but not "this is the her
