Impressions of the Sea

Sunlight scattered over crystalline waves.
They move gently,
following the path laid down for them,
pulled there by the sun and moon.
Crashing into weathered rocks,
they tug at the slick, green seaweed
as it clings desperately to its home.
Birds float calmly on the water,
bobbing up and down as the tides decree.
Pebbles and sand, worn smooth, drift gently southward,
moved but slightly with each rushing wave.
Hidden rocks appear then retreat,
back to the gloom that hides them so well.
A flash of warning light cuts through the coming dusk.
