Newbies, here is a quick way to get onto your feet here at Neopets. When I started over a year ago I though I was making good money buying food at 7np and selling it at 20np since I didn't know any better. Don't think like that or you will be poor for a long time. I also wasted a lot of money on a NeoHome which was so useless that I just tore it down.

  1. You've already made your account and have your pet.
  2. Only create one pet if you want it to be as powerful as you can make it. This way when you complete quests the credit can only go to that pet.
  3. Open up your shop (click shops on yellow left hand toolbar, click your shop next to your items symbol on the top toolbar, go to create/edit and create your shop)
  4. Go to my Make NP section to find out what to buy from which shop.
  5. Put those items into your shop and use the shop wizard to find out how much they're selling for. Price them so they're as high as they can be but the lowest on the shop wizard.
  6. Use that money to upgrade your shop just a few times- size 10 is very reasonable you won't need anything bigger than size 30 unless you start a gallery
  7. Don't open up a NeoHome they are a waste of money
  8. Galleries are also a waste of time and money unless you collect items that are actually rare (rainbow kiko squeeze toy for example)
  9. When a new item is introduced don't run out and buy it for 10,000 from another players shop. Wait a week or so to give everyone who was caught up in the hype to stock up. Then the Shop Wizard value goes down a very considerable ammount and it makes it easier to buy straight from the store that sells it originally.
  10. When training your pet use Swashbucking Academy. Courses take more time but Dubloons cost less than half of what Codestones do. If you are also using the Neggery to advance your pets stats then buy Faerie Queen Neggs to raise HP. These neggs cost less than power and defence neggs so use the training schools to work on those.
  11. If your pet gets sick do not spent thousands on a cure. Go to the Apothecary and buy a Poisonous Mushroom (costs under 200np) and feed it to your pet. this will give them Neopox. Now use the Shop Wizard or go to the Pharmacy and buy a slice of Neopox Pizza for about 35np.
  12. Do Not do the Earth Faeries Quest if she gives it to you. She only feeds your pet which you can do for a lot less than it costs to get the item she wants.
