TRILOGY 3: THE ANNOUNCEMENT

Dana and Fox Mulder's Residence
Annapolis, MD
February 1993
Sunday, 7:00 p.m.

"Fox!" Special Agent Dana Scully-Mulder exclaimed, as she
entered their bedroom. She noticed that her husband, Special
Agent Fox Mulder was still in bed, resting after a horrible
chase with a mutant. Her blue-green eyes were twinkling with
excitement and utter happiness. "I have some exciting news
to tell you!"

Fox looked up at his wife, and he smiled at Dana. "Don't
tell me that the government admitted that there the aliens
had landed in Roswell!"

Dana reflected of how they had finally got together. It wasn't
that hard, but in the FBI, things were complicated. It was lucky
that they had a caring Assistant Director who had let them
continue their working relationship due to their high solve rate.

Dana and Fox had started to date early 1992 when they realized
that their friendship was turning into love, shortly before
Dana was assigned to work with Fox on the X-Files together. However,
they had kept their relationship a secret from everyone, including
Fox's sister, Samantha, and Dana's family for months until they
could no longer hide it. It was impossible for them to keep
pretending that they hardly know each other when they had known
each other for years.

Fox was the one who decided to risk everything to buy an
engagement ring in early September 1992, and he asked Dana
to marry him, and of course, she said yes. They were married
in early October 1992, near Fox's birthday.

Dana laughed, as Fox's humor was one of the many things that
she loved about him. They had been married for the past few
months, and she was still getting used to the fact that
she was Fox's wife as well as his partner at work. Little does
he know that he is going to be a father! Her smile deepened as
she thought about it, "No. It's better than that. Fox, I found
out that I am pregnant! You are going to be a Daddy!"

"We're going to be parents?" Fox asked, quizzically.

Dana nodded. "I will be a Mom, and you are going to
be a Daddy. I was shocked myself when I found out a
few minutes ago in the bathroom..."

"Was it when we went to Alaska?" Fox asked as his wife
nodded. "I thought so, but I wasn't sure. I know that
we had been trying hard."

"I am so excited about this!" Dana exclaimed,
excitedly. "Aren't you?"

"Yes, I am," Fox replied. "Let's start of thinking names
for the baby."

"Isn't that a little too soon?" Dana asked.

"Not to me," Fox smiled. "I am so excited for us, Dana. I
hope the baby looks like you."

"I wouldn't mind if he or she looks like you, Fox," Dana
replied, as she hugged Fox close and they kissed. She
paused. "Fox, what are we going to do about the cases? In
six or so months, I won't be able to accompany you."

"I will talk this over with Skinner, and I am sure that
he will do something. Maybe getting a third agent to help
us out when the time comes," Fox sighed. "They better not
do something to break us apart or something crazy like
placing you at Quantico."

"I doubt that," Dana sighed. "I can't believe it. We are
going to be parents!"

AD Walter Skinner's Office
FBI Headquarters
J. Edgar Hoover Building
Washington DC
Monday, 9:00 a.m.

"Agent Fox Mulder to see you, sir," the secretary
announced to Assistant Director Walter Skinner.

"Send him in," Skinner replied. The secretary left, and
he mumbled. "What on Earth does he want?"

Mulder walked in, and he approached the Assistant Director
with ease. "Sir, my partner, Dana Scully-Mulder, is pregnant
with my child, and she wanted me to let you know first."

"Agent Scully-Mulder is pregnant," Skinner replied to
Mulder who was sitting in a chair.

"Yes, she is," Mulder smiled. "I am very happy with
the news, sir. I know how supportive you are about us,
and I thought that you should know. She is willing
to do everything that she can until our baby arrives."

"I will make of note of this, and we will see what we can
do when she starts her maternity leave," Skinner
replied. He paused for a second, and smiled at Mulder. "Congrats
to you both. I am sure that both you and Agent Scully-Mulder
will make great parents."

X-Files Basement Office
Fifteen Minutes Later

"Was Skinner understanding?" Dana asked her husband
when Fox returned to the X-Files office.

"Yes, he was. At first, I thought that he was mad at
me for taking one of his best agents out of the field,"
Fox shrugged. He sat down at his desk while looking at
his wife. "He gave us his congratulations, and he
will see what he can when it is time for you to have
your maternity leave." He smiled at the thought of
Dana was carrying their child.

"That's good," Dana smiled. "I was beginning to worry."

"Don't be," Fox answered. "This baby is a blessing. I
can't believe that you're pregnant."

"Believe it," Dana answered. She got up from her chair,
and went over to her husband. She hugged him, and watched
as their lips touched for a kiss.
