England's Sacred Sites and Solar Eclipse Tour
Stonehenge began a very long time ago in the late wood shovels.  Work continued through a series of distinctive phases until  around 1600 Neolithic period around 3000 BC. It started with the construction of a huge circular ditch and earth bank, using picks made from deer's antlers and primitive BC, this extraordinary engineering feat was considered to be complete.  Thereafter no further work was undertaken and by the time the Romans arrived in Britain, Stonehenge was abandoned and was empty ruin.Even today the reason for its existence remains shrouded in mystery, its precise purpose a matter of pure speculation.  Modern science might indicate when and how Stonehenge was built but why, or even by whom, continues to be an elusive enigma.
