UPDATED!
Based on customers' feedback and suggestion the program has been updated! Some minor bugs were corrected and some new functions added.
Now possible to select the audio channel (left/right/both) during the test. Speed control addedd for 'sweep test' and sound sweep can be paused during the test. More frequency resolution (250Hz/step) implemented. Multitones can played in order or together. Also sound can be played continuously or pulsed (In pulsed mode noise canceller of HA won't cause trouble).
In the original version of program on 'Blind Test' after right word entered the next word immediately started to play. Sometimes this caused problem because as user pushed the 'enter' key its pushing noise troubled to hear clearly the next word...Now this problem is corrected, a short pause added before the next word playing.

General overview
An interesting question asked by HOH (Hard of Hearing)
people who wear hearing aids is "How effective are my hearing aids?" "Can
they be adjusted to help me hear better?" One of the methods used to
evaluate the effectiveness of hearing aids is a Word Comprehension Test.
During this test, the user will hear randomly selected words. The user must
repeat or identify the words they hear. The percentage of the words that
are correctly identified is the word recognition score. If the user does
the test without hearing aids and then compares the un-aided score with the
score achieved while using the hearing aids, they get an objective measure
of how much the hearing aids are helping during conversations.
This program is a realization of
above described Word Comprehension Test. (for Windows XP only!)
eR-Lab Word Comprehension Test provides the tools needed to evaluate your
word comprehension and determine which frequencies may be amplified too much or
too little by your hearing aids. After using the eR-Lab test, you may be able
to tell your hearing instrument specialist how to better adjust your aids for
better quality audibility.
Used by your "Score" list and the the below Frequency-Threshold "map" you or your audiologist can avaluate the frequencies where
may more amplification you need. (Note: the frequency - threshold map is not part of the program. You can copy it from here and print out for later use)
In addition to Word Recognition tests, the program includes two more tools;
Sweep Test and Multi-Tone Test.
These two tools are for checking the current
settings and fine tuning of the aids.
The program includes an on-line help file with more information.
Additional information may be obtained by downloading the help file. It is a standard Windows Help file. In the help file you can find more information about how you can customize the program, change or add your own words, environment noise or even how you are able to replace the whole set of used words.
