World Cup Fever!

World cup fever has hit Toronto.
A large percentage of the population here are immigrants like Mommy and Daddy.
(It's interesting to note that only 50% of the population of Toronto speak English as a first language.)
Because there are people from all over the world here, people get excited about the World Cup.
You can see flags from all 32 participating countries flying from people's cars and hanging in windows.
Our family doctor says that no matter who wins, there will be a big party somewhere in town.
As you can see below, our family has got caught up in the excitement.

Here is me sleeping with Daddy after the U.S. beat Portugal.
Since the games are in Korea and Japan, they are played at funky hours here in Canada.
This game started at 5:30 AM.
We're glad the Americans beat the Portugese.
Several days later, when Portugal beat Poland, a bunch of Portugese people drove around honking their horns.
It was really obnoxious.

Here we are watching the USA-Poland game.
This game could only be seen on tape-delay in Canada.
(Drop the tariffs on softwood lumber and quit accidentally bombing our troops,
and maybe we'll broadcast your soccer games live.)
Being a proud Canadian, I'm waving the flag even though Canada didn't qualify for the world cup.

It's a goal for the Americans!!!
Unfortunately it was their only one, and Poland had 3. Oops.
It's OK though, the U.S. did just good enough to advance to the next round.

Here I am on the changing table, looking at my mobile and kicking vigorously.
Perhaps one day I will play soccer.
