Description: White Oleander
chronicles the story of Astrid (Alison Lohman), a young teenager who
journeys through a series of foster homes after her mother (Michelle
Pfeiffer) goes to prison for committing a crime of passion. This
character-based drama focuses on Astrid's struggle to become her own
person while coming to terms with her highly seductive yet destructive
mother. Renee Zellweger ("Bridget Jones's Diary") and Robin
Wright Penn ("The Pledge") play two of the foster mothers who
take Astrid in. The film is based on the best-selling novel by Janet
Fitch.
