That death wish for the
departing ER doc is just one of the surprises from my Midseason
Cliffhanger poll, in which thousands of you spoke out on the direction
this season's hottest storylines should take. You presented a united
front on ER: Mark's flatline and the Abby-Carter hookup each
received more votes than any other option in the entire poll.
Anthony Edwards (Mark) is leaving the
show, but Alex Kingston (Mark's wife, Elizabeth) is sticking around. How
should Mark go?

So much for a quiet departure--looks like most of you want a big
bang. And based on the scripts I've seen so far, that's the Emmy-begging
direction Edwards is heading. In the next new episode (March 28), his
conditions becomes so severe that he can no longer hide it from the
staff--or from his wife. I'll tell you more about the following episode,
which looks to be a Niagara-sized tear-jerker, in Monday's chat.
In an upcoming episode, Carter's feelings
for Abby lead to problems with Susan. Who should Abby be with?
