EL AMOR PERJUDICA SERIAMENTE LA SALUD (Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health) was directed by Manuel Gómez Pereira in 1996.
Two young people (Diana and Santi) meet in 1965 in Madrid as a result of Diana's devotion to The Beatles and John Lennon, and have a recurring relationship during the next thirty years at the oddest of moments, in the most diverse places, and during very important moments that defined several decades.
Diana (Penelope Cruz)is a young Beatles determined to meet her idol, John Lennon, when the Fab Four arrive in Madrid in 1965. With the assistance of Santi (Gabino Diego), a love struck bellboy, she sneaks into John's room where she hides under the very bed where John seduces a model. Penélope Cruz has the opportunity to create the character of a young hysterical Beatles fan and the director perfectly recreates the 60's with tricks with The Beatles (as in FORREST GUMP)with images of The Beatles during their press conference in Madrid. In the spanish edition of the DVD you can see the making of this scenes.
The music was composed by Bernardo Bonezzi.
