Writing Practice Exercise #1

General Instructions: Please read the instructions for each part of the exercise. 

(a) Write one topic sentence for each of the following topics: 

• Your hometown
• A place you would like to travel to. 
• (Another topic of your own choosing)

There are many topics of which can converse, but to speak of my native city causes me a lot of satisfaction. I was born in the city of Guarenas, in the time in that it was a quite calm city. Their hot climate allowed me to always enjoy sunny days. Although it was hard the days of classes because we had to go walking to the school. The days of vacations we enjoyed a lot because we could walk through the near rivers, to mount horse and to walk through the parks.

However, Guarenas is a very big city with a lot of people that soon will have the service of the subway. I always remember, that we could live with enough tranquility without the one to the moment of my childhood always shakes of a big city.

In spite of that I have very good memories of her and I am glad to see like it has grown.

Maracaibo, color city and heat

Even when I love Caracas, the city that adopted me and it fell in love me with their cultural activity, their architectural spaces in the country, and majestic Ávila, I cannot stop to remember the spaces, the breeze, the heat, the presence of the lake in the day-to-dayness, in the day by day that Maracaibo offers to its native ones, to those that dare to come closer to her.

Spaces like the Street Carabobo, the Walk of the Lake, the Mirador of the Bridge, Santa Lucía are places that make remember the childhood, full with breeze, heat and sun until burning the feet.

To have breakfast tequeños with pepsi-cola, only with pepsi-cola, go to eat cepillados after eating lunch fish fried in Port Horse, they are forced rites for those that live outside of the homeland and that returns from time to time to recapture the impulse from the roots to continue with flavor to history the life of the capital.

From my childhood I have always dreamt of traveling to Europe. My parents are of Italian origin, for that reason I have big references of that country and of the rest of the countries. The history of Europe is very interesting to be like they say "the old continent." I would like to know the history of the place where my parents were born, to know to my family as well as the rest of Italy.

They count that the north of Italy is very industrialized, there is enough work and people have a good level of life. As for the south, they say that there is not so many industries and there are few work sources, however people are very friendly.

I would like to know each corner of that Mediterranean beautiful country as well as the rest of the European continent since is part of my life.

Returning to the pregnant walls of history

I believe that if I could, I would return one and a thousand times to a castle that moved me: The Castle of Gradara, in the center of Italy, County of Ancona.

The place where Dante Alighieri relates us the death of the two big lovers in the Divine Comedy: Paolo and Francesca. It is still in the air the presence of Gianciotto spying their wife Francesca while she meets with her lover, the brother of the first. Damned nail! A nail is only the guilty of so much death.

The great tower, with the shields of the family, the roads of the walls, the room of tortures, the grave of the mutilated bodies, and the view, everything flooded with the ancestral stones that compose the castle, besides the hawkers, the artisans, the chapels of the town, are almost memories of my history. Encounter place with the Middle ages, with my desire and with my peace.

(b) Choose one of the above topics and write ONE complete paragraph about it. You should use a good topic sentence and adequately detailed supporting sentences. You do not have to include a concluding sentence if you do not wish to do so.

One of the most beautiful memories that I have of Europe, went when I traveled to Germany, where my husband Rómulo, carried out a course. When he conclude the same one, we travel to Italy, we take a train from Germany, going by Austria and Switzerland. The landscape was spectacular, like it was season of snow, the houses that were seen in the field, seemed of movie. I always believed this alone one could see this show in the movies. The houses to the bottom with the roofs of snows, a true beauty.

I will remember this trip, of for life, and I give thanks to God to have allowed me to see so much beauty.

Writing Practice Exercise #2

Write paragraphs: 

(a) One Definition paragraph of at least seven sentences.

o The house has room, dining room, bedrooms, garage, terrace, bathrooms and garden

• I fattened so much that now the zipper doesn’t close.
