Artist's Note: The first half of this skit was done in 1995, the second in 1996. My technique and style have matured greatly through the passing years, so every time I see these drawings I cringe as to how terrible my work was back then. Here one sees the very early designs of Capt. Sebastian Doran and Mlle. Irene Relda. Nevertheless, despite my opinion of it, it still remains in my folders and many have taken interest in the strip, despite its dog-eared corners, battered and soiled edges. Therefore, I see no reason why it should not be shown, other than my embarrassment of my old technique.

Prologue: The celebrated English detective Basil of Baker Street and his partner, Dr. David Q. Dawson, was asked by the Crown Prince of Bohemia to assist in stopping a massive scandal. He was to be wed to a princess of Scandinavia. The marriage was a political one that would hopefully patch up the bitter differences between the two warring countries. Any insult or misconduct could bring the marriage to an end and bitter wars would begin again.
He was acquainted with the American operatic actress, Mlle. Irene Relda. In vengeance of his betrayal to her, she threatened to publish a compromising photograph that would definitely cause a great scandal to the Bohemian royal family.
The scene is a fanciful costume ball at one of Royal Houses of Bohemia. (I understand that the costumes are missing in the strip, unfortunately.) Apparently there are uninvited guests, Mlle. Irene Relda and her partner, Captain Sebastian Doran. They are discovered and a vicious chase enters in. This is only a final section of the chase scene.

Epilogue: Mlle. Relda purposely misshot the detective and knew Basil had "played dead" (remember she's an excellent sharpshooter). Yet they received their needed fraction-of-a-second and successfully escaped with the King's dispatch box through a secret passage. Basil's reason in the "dramatics" was to assist in locating that passageway.

TO BE CONTINUED.....
(Either in a pastiche or another strip, who knows?)
