Job Vacancy for Playschool Teacher in Finland Pieksamaki Finnish-American Society is running English Playschool and preschooland is looking for full-time, native English speaking teacher for the next term. Term starts at 14th of August, 2000 and ends 31st of May, 2001. You must be Bachelor of Education or have preschool education certificate. As Finnish-American society we want to have person who is familiar with habits and celebrations on American continent. For we celebrate Halloween, have Thanks Giving Dinner, St. Patrick’s Day etc. We have two half-day groups with about 20 children each. There are two teachers (one Finnish and one native English speaking) and two assistants. Salary is 7665 FIM (1200 USD, rate of exchange 1 USD=6,30 FIM) per month plus additional holiday pay ca. half months salary when you finish in the end of May. You will have of course an option to stay addintional year as well. Society pays flight to Finland and back. You get nearly free (tax ca. 90 cents) lunch, which you are supposed to eat with children. Accommodation is not included but we have a small furnished flat reserved for you, rent is about 1300 FIM.

If you are interested there is possible to earn extra money at Pieksamaki Citizens’ Academy. They need English-native to lead conversation groups. They pay 16 USD/lesson and up. For teachers society has an accident insurance that includes working time and trips between work and home. In addition we have health care if you get sick (doesn't pay you anything). If you need a doctor in nighttime it costs 120 FIM (18 USD) (that new emergency fee is for everyone nowadays), but the medical examinations thereafter are free. Society pays the salary although you are sick.

Pieksamaki is situated in central Finland and has continental climate. In wintertime we have snow but it doesn't feel so cold, for climate is dry. For example I found Chicago much colder in wintertime. Summertime is very light and temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees in Celsius. Pieksamaki is a town with 14000 people. In Varkaus (40 kilometers away) there is the nearest Finnish-American Society's playschool. All young people in Finland speak English and most of elderly people at least understand though they might be too shy to speak. Our living standard is high and for example health care is on very high level. Most famous things from Finland are Nokia's mobile phones. If fact every three of four have mobile and we use them a lot, for they are not so expensive to use as in many other countries. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Visa and work permit will be applied by you from the nearest Finnish Consulate.. You can contact us via * email:pekkaseppa43@hotmail.com * phone: +358 - 15 - 348900, fax: +358 15 348901 Please, send free-form and CV.
