EF English First schools are set up in countries with pressing demands for English language education. They cater for students of all ages and occupations, and offer general language instruction, as well as specialized classes for student groups, businesses, and professionals.

At the moment, we are recruiting EFL teachers, who have completed a 4 or 5-week intensive TEFL certificate course that includes at least 6 hours teaching practice.

We currently have two schools in Surabaya and one in Malang, which are all owned by the same franchisee. Since opening in early 1996 in Surabaya, we have experienced rapid expansion due to local market demands and the quality of our product, a direct result of an experienced, dedicated and flexible teaching staff.

Teachers' Load - Teachers normally carry a maximum load of 18 classes per week but may be asked to teach additional classes, when the need for substitution arises, at overtime rates. The classes last an hour and twenty minutes and are offered from 7:30 in the morning until 9:00 in the evening. The contract includes fifteen working days of vacation per year in addition to a week at Christmas and a week at the end of the Muslim Ramadhan period, during which times the schools are closed.

Salary - The base salary is in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) and after successfully completing a year contract the teacher is awarded a thirteenth month bonus. The cost of a return flight to the point of origin is also covered by EF. We are also responsible for all arrangements and expenses involved with securing the necessary visa. The salary permits a comfortable lifestyle including the cost of vacation travel within Indonesia.

Other benefits – EF offers it’s teachers shared housing with two or three other teachers in a furnished house. Those who wish to make their own housing arrangements will receive an additional monthly housing allowance. In case of hospitalization, Company Health Insurance covers EF teachers. We feel that this policy is adequate for nearly all cases in which in-patient treatment is required. EF also offers limited payment of outpatient medical expenses. We are happy to address specific questions relating to health insurance during the application process.
