Primrose

The primrose is one of the earliest signs of spring.  Its name means "first rose" even though it is not very simillar in appearance to its namesake.
The primrose was very fashionable in Victorian times.  It was Disraeli's favorite flower.  During her reign, Queen Victoria sent him many primroses from her garden, and when he died, she sent a large wreath of primroses as a sign of her affection.
