~ PASSAGE 28 ~
JAILED SUSPECT

Torynth examined the official paperwork lain before them. Aramil and Oktavianus gave their acceptance for its' signing, but the bard seemed impatient " We need Teflar and the others to sign as well. I wonder why they are not back yet!" Leah and Splendor seemed content on finishing their apple crisp and were willing to follow group plans; whatever they may be.
" Constable " spoke Salimen with sincerity " Do you know if the rest of our men wait at the gate perchance?" Orcendro spoke instead " I have just learned of your exiled party, or at least three of them. They are resting at our sentry barracks. We will see to them within the hour." Alyen seemed noticeably sullen " If you want, you can be rejoined by the evening." The constable watched as each member scribed their signatures upon the document and then he smiled in satisfaction.

The companions, however, were in full agreement on interviewing the arrested stranger before his arraignment. Aramil added his consensus " I, too, agree we should interview this thief. The others can wait until later."
Constable Alyen gave the mage a queer glance " That is the second time I heard that our suspicious stranger being referred to as a 'thief'. Why would you say such a thing?" He looked not only at Aramil, but at any who thought to agree with the wizard's views.

Aramil looked up at the constable " If he is one of the group we are searching for, then he is a thief. I guess I am getting ahead of myself, however. Best we meet this person first before we make hasty judgments."

Alyen nodded and the team followed him out the restaurant with Orcendro holding the rear.   As they stepped, once again, upon the market square, Salimen queried " If he's not a thief, why has he been arrested, Constable?" The robed man informed " He is some sort of spy and he admits traveling with such a group out of Rokasia. We aim to find out why." Captain Loman gazed deductively at the team as if his suspicions ran wild as ever.

The 'Raven' squad got into one of two coaches that rolled up and were escorted to the northeast district of the township where a sculpted, clay building stood. The structure read JAILHOUSE on its' front and the team was led inside. In the back of the house, a cemented room stood where a line of small cells faced them. In the far left corner, a slim man sat upon a bench; his shoulders slouched. His face was hidden and he stared at the ground motionless.
" You have a short time before his judgement. Get what you can from him and report back to me." stated the constable rather starkly.
