~ PASSAGE 40 ~
REGENERATIVE THINKING

Hebron jumped for the cave entrance only to be knocked forward in a flipping somersault by a broad axe swipe from the giant troll. As the monster set to kill the bowman where he lay, a burst of white light flashed between them! A wild badger appeared out of nowhere and bit the troll on the ankle while the archer gathered himself and raced into the hidden depths of the cave.

Teflar explained nothing of his thoughts to the paladin, but instead, with blades drawn, led the inspired bunch in a combative stand against the evil creature. The last of Raven raced up the slope to join their brethren in a final fight; the spellcasters keeping a safe, striking distance away.

The troll smashed the badger with his foot and the animal disappeared in a celestial flash. The monster turned to face the team as they set upon him.   The troll towered over them all glowering
" Stealin' me water! You must pay!" He lunged at the ranger who twisted away from the wild swings of the giant. The faithful paladin tried steering its' attentions away with his shield to avoid a direct melee with the overpowering beast.

" Teflar, we must attack from all sides or we're done for!" cried the monk hefting his longspear.
Three vials of oils sailed from the inner cave and bounced upon the ground; one shattering to pieces.

Splendor fired a crossbow bolt piercing the beast's right forearm. It laughed as the previous arrow wounds healed instantaneously
" Grorak is harmless!!! Ah harg!"

Torynth launched his spear deep into the monster's side and the beast dropped its' axe to the ground with a grunt. Spinning around with its' sharp, iron nails groping, he leapt after the monk in renewed fury.
Suddenly, the air sizzled when a blue, flaming arrow blasted the giant in the chest stumbling it. The mage stood firmly behind the group " I am spent. Finish him off; our magic arsenal is no more against the likes of it."

Arrows and slingstones zipped from all sides now as a wave of shots fired from the cave, the upper pond, and the western forest. The archer, druid, and bard were in a triangular crossfire trying to down the troll. Unfortunately, Gailwind caught an errant missile in the stomach from his location down the slope and he dropped to the earth in agony.
