~ PASSAGE 6 ~
LANDRETTA DOWNS

9 AM: StarPoint Raven took key moments to secure their precious gifts into chosen places of comfort. The rising sun beamed down upon the pebbly grounds outside the city gates as the party made their final look behind them. The magesty of the glorious battlements were pinned with heavy curtained banners wavering gently in the prevailing winds. In the morning light, guards were propped in their towers looking elegantly upon the lands about.

Many of the fellowship posed immediate questions about the sages' knowledge of the Downs. Gailwind nodded " This area was an old battlefield when the Kingdom ended the southern threat of the Wergunds during the Great Elf Dissolutionment an age ago. The grasses have filled in nicely and there are a few stone monasteries hosting some of the fallen warriors. They are bunkered mainly on the eastern hills. I have not been to the actual point where the trail splits, but I studied the maps on where the scouts have indicated."

Teflar was the first to lead them; he seemed primed for a fast pace and walked the thinned grasses with long strides. The others followed suit leaving the monk and druid to secure the rear of the party.

NOON: The route ahead led a very wide and angular berth veering at certain places due to the swerves of climbing hills. The stark sun above burned away the infamous mists that casually swirled upon the hillocks and, after a steady morning trek, the party saw a cairn posted on a small mound up ahead.

The ranger pointed keenly "This is the post of the trail split. Let's continue our journey north."
Salimen seemed to study the area intently. " I feel no traces where the starpoint could have gone. I was hoping to detect some sort of magical presence."
A few teammates scanned the matted grasses for prints, but mainly discovered that the grounds had been trampled by the sheer force of Bethlun Cavalry and no new information was to be had. The band pressed forward eagerly climbing further into the Downs. Rising steeply did these strange hills leap; one after another after another. When topping a soft crest, some looked west towards the Great Grizzledane Range and saw the heavy treefall that seemed to overtake the far-off Mountain passes.
The druid reflected upon the blue northern skies with a hefty sigh. The cleric kept their progress in check as he moved along with labored breathing. The temperature held steady at {55F} with gentle winds out of the southeast.

2 PM: The first light meal was eaten on the slope of a taupe-colored incline. No animals, except a few hunter hawks far in the distant eastern skies, reminded them that there was life in the hllls. The group seemed a bit tense and ate their rations quickly.

5 PM: After a while, the hillocks started to decline and the first signs of an actual footpath were seen coming in from the east. It was a dirt miniroad that cut into a murky fen up ahead. The sun dipped low behind the Grizzledanes' and signs of twilight shadows were soon upon them. Achy legs cramped a bit as the team noticed that the slope they descended led them straight onto the road and towards the murky bog three miles distant.
