~ PASSAGE 71 ~
COURTROOM PROCEEDINGS

12:15 PM: Inside the court building, StarPoint Raven traveled ahead along a wide, glassy hallway. A spacious mall opened onto them bearing many archways leading to other unseen places. An ivory statue adorned the center of the room and it was here the group pondered which way to go. The clerk, beforehand, had them wait around until the captain returned, but he hadn't been so receptive. Now, the clerk was gone and they had to search the captain out with little time to spare.

Teflar scanned the various exitways and his eyes caught a sign that read 'HOLDING CELLS'. "Hmm..." he pondered
" Perhaps here is a place we can search."

Torynth musingly rubbed his smooth pate " Man is often found where his habits lay." Turning to Gailwind, the monk asked " Do you know anything about our good captain that may give a clue to his whereabouts?"

Gailwind flipped through an analogue and found three quips regarding Captain Metlivon. " His motif is like clockwork. Rarely late if could be helped." The elf browsed through his book a little further " He is second-in-command to Pinedroi's arsenal. He passes sentence in many a criminal's fate."

Teflar and Erelis looked down a long hallway that ran south from their position. The word 'COURTROOM' was scriptly in a thick piece of lacquered wood high above the archway.

" I cannot offer any more then to go with the prevailing idea... " Torynth paused, scrunching his toad-like face " ...that this implies an exact methodology. What is the usual habit of the judges of men? Do they casually examine the miscreant before official trial? It was so in the monastery. Additionally, desire to be at a particular place at a particular time. When do such sentencing of miscreants traditionally take place?" Torynth blinked abruptly and then cleared his throat " Punctuality meant to us acolytes that one had better be there early."

Leah, examining a glassed casing nearby, spoke up " According to this listing, court began a few minutes ago. High noon precisely."
Torynth's countenance became passive " It boils down to this: is the captain one who would wish to see the accused before addressing them in official capacity?"

Gailwind replied " Within this law structure, the holding cells garner the convicted, never the accused."

Aramil looked to the elven sage " With that new understanding, perhaps we should change directions to the court. That would make sense why he was so curt with us earlier and perhaps we may get a chance to talk to him after he has done his rulings."

Teflar agreed with his good-natured smile " In areas of law, Gailwind, no doubt, has the most knowledge. I just hope the captain doesn't hold being late to court against us."

12:30: StarPoint Raven moved quickly down the southern hall and found their destination with ease. They entered the courtroom discovering that the proceedings were well under way. Many casual observers watched the band file in and they were alert at the odd dress and protection they carried. The Captain was seated at a table on the left side of the room and stared transfixed at the group while a man was pleading his case in front of a small panel.

The team was approached by five burly guards. One, intercepting the fellowship with his blade half-drawn, spoke firmly
" You must step back outside; no weapons are allowed in this Courtroom!"
