The release of the recordings of Glenn's late '70's no wave bands is finally a reality... and more comprehensive than expected.

These tracks are the earliest emanations of rock publicly delivered by the man called Branca, thoroughly foreshadowing the vast domain of post-modern rock in more ways than you'd expect. All the proper studio recordings from both singles by the Static and Theoretical Girls are here, plus outrageous and inspired home casette recordings.

The Static were a stripped-down, pummelling drone machine featuring Glenn and photographer extraordinare Barbara Ess.
There was also the trio of Glenn, composer Jeffrey Lohn, and one Wharton Tiers on drums. These guys meant business in the late '70's NYC art-music scene and drew big crowds in the Big Apple, influencing legions of lower east side, guitar assasins.
Like-minded peers of Mars, Teenage Jesus and DNA (from the No New York Record), the Theoretical Girls career was short and sweet: they only played out 20 times.

Songs '77-'79 is a must for any Branca zealot, many Sonic Youth fans, and all those curious about the missing links between the halcyon no wave era and the dawn of the 80's "downtown" NYC scene.
