What I'm listening to this week - 8/27/05:
- TURBONEGRO - "Party Animals"
People are saying this is weaker than past releases. Granted, it's not as "death-punk" as longtime fans would want -- but it's still a rockin' release. There's some great anthems on this that you just have to crank up.
- BOB MOULD - "Body of Song"
This album departs a bit from Bob's electronica direction and back to guitar rock. Don't expect a SUGAR or HUSKER DU sound though, this is more "indie-ish" with some cool electronica flava thrown in. Great album. "Paralyzed" gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
- PENNYWISE - "The Fuse"
I've been gradually losing interest in these guys over the past few years. But for some reason, this release is rekindling my love for Pennywise. Very solid release.
- BOLD - "The Search"
BOLD is back! It's great that they're playing shows again and might get into the studio as well. This is old time youth crew hardcore at it's best. This disc collects everything they put out back in the day, including the classic CRIPPLED YOUTH stuff as well as an unreleased track.
- HANDSOME - "Handsome"
Every few months I dig this album up and realize how awesome it is. This came out back in 1997 and had members of HELMET, QUICKSAND and CRO-MAGS. It's rock in the vein of HELMET and SOUNDGARDEN that just pumps you up. Too bad these guys only had one album.
