Distance Tutorial |
Most people find it difficult to draw distance, but it's not really as hard as it seems once you get the hang of it.
This tutorial will be simple and brief. We will be drawing a simple table. You should grab a pencil, eraser and paper for this tutorial.
Start with a line anywhere on your page for the "horizon" of your drawing (fig 1). From the center, draw four diagonal lines (fig 2).
After you've done this, draw a square with the top line parallel to the horizon line (fig 3). Next, we will draw the lines of the box which will be the outline of the table (fig 4). In the image, notice that only the vertical lines of the box are parallel to each other rather than the sides in the 3rd dimension would be parallel to the ground (fig 5), are not parallel in the drawings, but rather they seem to want to come to a point, like a triangle. The only thing that stops them from meeting is the line at the top of the box. Then, make sure that any line of the table that would be parallel to the ground, are parallel to the diagonal lines in the drawing. And that the vertical lines all be parallel to each other in the drawing. Lastly, erase the spare outlines, and voila! A table! (fig 6)
