My freshman year in college, I heard they were filming another movie in town. A few of my friends and I happened to be going home that weekend. We decided it was the perfect weekend to go home and "do laundry." When we came into town on Friday we asked around and founf out when and where "they" would be filming. Then, on Saturday, we went out and checked out the movie. It turneed out to be an all-star cast: Will Smith, Charliz Theron and Matt Damon. Not to mention, director Robert Redford! The movie was The Legend of Bagger Vance. We hung out all day and watched them film. Even though the only "big names" on set that day were Matt Damon and Robert Redford, it was still a neat thing to be able to watch. Robert Redford set up several shots involving an old car than Matt's character would drive into a make-shift shanty town. A production assistant told us that Matt wasn't feeling well that day. It was disappointing not being able to actually meet him, but it was still quite an honor just to watch him work. His manner was quiet and willing to adapt when Robert Redford gave him direction. It was a long day, but we did have an encounter with Will Hunting himself: Matt Damon. Watching a movie being made is always fun and Matt was an unexpected bonus.
