Chat Transcript: Sue Bird and Nick Carter at the ESPY Awards

WNBA All-Star and lady hoopster extraordinaire Sue Bird went to the ESPY's with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter on Wednesday. Here's what the two had to say during a live chat on AOL before the awards show.

MrLiveGuy: Sue Bird and Nick Carter will be here soon! Keep sending in your questions!

MrLiveGuy: Hey, everyone, Sue and Nick are on the red carpet at the ESPYs and will be checking in with us shortly. Does anyone know what team Sue plays on in the WNBA? Five seconds, 4, 3, 2, 1... the Seattle Storm!

MrLiveGuy: Sue Bird and Nick Carter will be here soon! They are at the ESPYs on the red carpet right now. Nick is escorting Sue to the show. Sue will be in the upcoming WNBA all-star game. The rows are rockin’! Shout out to Row 8!

MrLiveGuy: Hey, guys -- can you give us a sneak peek as to what you are wearing to the ESPYs?

Sue Bird: I have the DKNY dress on with a Spaghetti shirt and diamonds. Nick's got on his Hugo Boss shirt and looks pretty good!

MrLiveGuy: Sue and Nick, who are you most excited to see tonight at the ESPYs?

Sue Bird: I'm most excited to see Snoop Dogg do his thing up there!

Nick Carter: I'm excited to see all of the sports stars. I'm just going to have to go out to the audience and see who I'm excited to see. I know Samuel L. Jackson is going to be here!

Question: Nick, are you doing a duet with Britney Spears?

Nick Carter: I had someone from back home call and tell me I'm doing a duet with Britney! No, I'm not. I had no clue about this!

Question: Nick, do you have a title for your solo album?

Nick Carter: It's called 'Now or Never.'

MrLiveGuy: Do you remember where you were when you first heard the WNBA was going to be created?

Sue Bird: I think I was a junior in high school, and I'm not sure where I was, but I was very excited. I thought it was amazing.

MrLiveGuy: From Paige: When did you start playing basketball?

Sue Bird: I started when I was in third grade and have been playing ever since.

MrLiveGuy: What is the atmosphere like there?

Sue Bird: It's hot out here, it's a lot of fun and it's pretty crazy. A lot of cheering going on!

Nick Carter: I have to second that!

Question: Nick, what kind of vocal training do you take?

Nick Carter: I train myself now. I've been in this business for a long time, so I train myself.

Question: Nick, when does the Backstreet Boys’ album come out?

Nick Carter: The next Backstreet album is in the middle of being recorded, so there is no date set yet.

MrLiveGuy: From Lauren: I LOVE BASKETBALL!! You are like the greatest. I'm from Connecticut, so I've seen you play a lot! Well, my question is if you think that all of the hard work and months of practice that you went through, was it really worth it to have made it to where you are now?

Sue Bird: Thanks for writing, Lauren, and DEFINITELY. To be where I am now is a dream come true.

Question: Nick, will you tour with your brother this summer?

Nick Carter: I don't know. I don't believe so, but I don't know. That's an option.

MrLiveGuy: This is for Sue and Nick: Who would win in a game of one-on-one? I think Sue would!

Nick Carter: I can't even be a part of that question -- that's not fair! I'll just call the shots out. I only play basketball for fitness, LOL.

MrLiveGuy: Sue, you rock! Who is the toughest player to defend in the WNBA?

Sue Bird: Probably Ticha Penicheiro.

Question: Nick, what advice do you have for me? I've been working hard to get a singing career going, but any advice would come as a big help. Thanks.

Nick Carter: Mainly to work hard at your dream. A lot of times people give up in the beginning. Things don't happen overnight -- you gotta work for it! Find out what your talents are. Sometimes your talents aren't always what you're working for.

Question: Sue, what made you decide to choose Nick as your escort? Good choice, though -- he's a great guy!

Sue Bird: We both have the same manager, and he seemed like a great guy to have fun with!

Question: Nick, what is on your schedule for the next few weeks?

Nick Carter: The next few weeks I'm going to be in L.A. doing some intense stuff. I'll be recording some things for some stuff about to happen in the near future.

Question: Sue Bird, how did it feel to go undefeated in your last year in college?

Sue Bird: It was amazing. It was definitely a great way to cap a great career, and I was glad to go out that way.

Question: Sue Bird, how is the WNBA different from the NCAA?

Sue Bird: The players are much better at the highest level you can play, and I'm trying to gain some experience.

Question: Nick, do you listen to country music? Would you would ever record a country song? It'll make some people mighty happy if you did.

Nick Carter: I don't know. I like all music. I don't know if I'd ever do a country song, but who knows? I can't tell what I'm going to do in the future.

MrLiveGuy: What is your favorite childhood memory?

Sue Bird: Learning how to ride a bike. The first time I rode a bike, I fell!

Nick Carter: I was an accident-prone kid, and I had a bike accident and broke my arm. Those were our WORST memories! LOL.

Question: Sue, this is Jennifer from D.C. I enjoy watching you play basketball. How well do you think the other rookies are doing this year, especially your former teammate Asjha Jones and your NCAA Championship game opponent Stacey Dales-Schuman? Good luck!!!

Sue Bird: I think the other rookies are doing great, and they're making a great impact. I always like to see the rookies do well. It's very nice to see!

Question: Nick, how do you feel about the older audiences, such as older women who like you, going after your little brother?

Nick Carter: This is an issue! My brother is 14, and he thinks he's older than he is! LOL. But I guess that's all right. I'm a protective older brother.

Question: This is a question for Nick Carter. If you weren’t a singer, what would you be?

Nick Carter: Unfortunately I was not blessed in the basketball department. Who knows what I'd be doing? I have always been into watersports, so I'd probably be racing waterboats or NASCARs or something like that.

Question: Hey, Nick! My name is Angela. Congratulations on the boat races you have won! I was just wondering, is your solo album done, and when is the first single coming out? Luv ya!

Nick Carter: First single should be coming out sometime next month, and the album around October. Right now I'm in discussions with the boys, and we're trying to see what's best. Right now on my agenda is my album.

Question: Sue, I play guard. What can I do to make my game better so I can make it like you? P.S. -- You're the coolest!!!!

Sue Bird: Work on the fundamental things like ball handling and shooting, and always put your teammates first!

Question: What’s it like to be a basketball player? Is it a rush to be in front of all the fans?

Sue Bird: Yeah, it's a lot of fun! We had a great experience in college with thousands cheering for us every night.

MrLiveGuy: Who is the coolest person you’ve seen so far tonight?

Sue Bird: I saw Marshall Falk, and I'm looking at Samuel L. Jackson right now!

Question: Sue, have you and Nick played basketball together? Who won?

Nick Carter: We have a hard enough time getting in touch with each other on the phone! We've been playing phone tag for the past three weeks. I'd probably never play her -- I'm too scared!

Question: Hi, Nick, my name's Brandi. :) If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be and why?

Nick Carter: I'd be something in the ocean -- maybe a dolphin or a shark.

MrLiveGuy: What are you doing after the show tonight? Is there a party?

Sue Bird: There is a party, but I have a game tomorrow, so I'm hopping on a plane and returning to Seattle.

Nick Carter: I'm going to rehearsals tonight. I'm not as bad as I used to be! LOL.

MrLiveGuy: For Sue: Congrats on the all-star game -- how excited are you?

Sue Bird: I'm very excited. It's such an honor, and I look forward to going and having a good time. I'll be honored just to be there! Thanks for writing and coming to check us out!

Nick Carter: Sorry we couldn't get to everybody! Take care!

MrLiveGuy: Thanks, everyone!! Thanks for all of your great questions, everyone. They had to go and run into the ESPYs!
