Minnesota Lynx Stopped Seattle Storm Winning
Streak.
Written By Sheila Bachri
It was a disappointing lost for the Storm after their big win against
LA Sparks the other night. They came out with a lot of shooting flaws
and their defense gave up so many open looks for Minnesota leading scorers,
Katie Smith and Georgia Schweitzer.
Personally, I think I saw a totally different Seattle team
tonight. They did not play or act like a team who needed the win to stay
in the playoff race against Portland. Sue Bird had another rough shooting
night, but out of the blue she shot from half court at the haft-time buzzer
to end her drought. She looked a little fatigue, where some of her passing
attempts were not even close. She had 3 fouls, 3 turnovers and it was
her first lost against one of her former UConn Teammates, Tamika Williams
who did a great job for the Lynx tonight.
Minnesota had too many easy lay up opportunities and they
did a great job on both defensive and offensive rebounds. They had the
lead early and ran away with it. The Storm simply could not recover and
blew their chance to tie Portland Fire at #4 playoff spot. However, they
have to be glad that Minnesota was not the only spoiler team tonight as
Orlando Miracle defeated Portland Fire 63 - 61. This loss has kept Seattle
within one game against Portland.
Now the Storm has a chance to rest while waiting for Portland
result in their next game against the Utah Starzz before they play each
other on August 9th in front of a sold-out at Key Arena.
