Peat swamp forest. Malaysia

The Peat Swamp forest experiences seasonal flooding. Water tables are very high. Bulk density is very low. Trafficability is extremely poor. Parent material can consists of wood, leaves, reeds etc.

This particular photograph shows a strip of such a forest that has experienced several episodes of incineration. This land is classified as degraded peatland.
