Lois Lowry -
Author Study
Each time a child opens a book,
he pushes open the gate that separates him from Elsewhere.
It gives him choices.
It gives him freedom.
Lois Lowry - Newbery Acceptance Speech - June, 1994
Introduction
Learning about who wrote a book (the author) can sometimes give us valuable information about the book itself.
Additionally, if you read a book and ENJOYED it - look for other books by the same author.
Your task:
1. Write a timeline including at least
10 events in her life.
(a TIMELINE is a list of important dates and the events that occurred - NOT
written in sentences)
2. In paragraphs (and of course, in
your own words), write a biography about Lois Lowry
Your biography should be about one page long.
Remember - I'm
checking your English and structure as well as
content!!
3. In your opinion, is there any relationship between Ms. Lowry's life and the book The Giver?
***** Use at least 3 different sources. Don't forget to include a bibliography.
