Stupid Peikko Saves Christmas

Story by Webmaster Etelämäki

Peikko's Tupa (Small House) with a
Great Yule Fire

At Peikko's tupa was a huge bonfire and it lit the night bright. The coffee was black and very strong and Peikko and Santa had a very long chat. Peikko told Santa of his tales of Adventure and as he recited the tales, Peikko would chant loudly and re-enact many of the most exciting scenes in front of the burning fire. Santa was soon howling like a madman in laughter at some of Peikko's unbeliveable tales. The tales were long and fascinating and it seemed as if hours and hours had gone by, but in fact, it was only minutes.

Finally, it came Santa's turn to ask for Peikko's help. You see Peikko, the children will all be devastated if they have no Christmas this year ! We've only a few minutes before Christmas is past and still I have no sleigh ! What am I to do, Peikko ?

Dear Cousin Santa. You have been excellent company this evening ! And so... I will NOW help you restore Christmas. Please Santa, You and Rudolf make yourselves ready. I must drink this last cup of Java, eat this mint leaf, And then, I must dance before the flames in a counter-clockwise direction. When I am "finnished" you shall have your sleigh and all its prizes.

The Mint Leaf

Peikko drank the last cup of coffee and then he ate the mint. And as he danced about the fire he chanted a mysterious song. When he was "finnished," he yelled out to Santa ! I see it ! I see the sleigh ! Quickly, lets go ! Now !
