Ethans House
BY Heather L. Olson

"Come into my house," said Ethan one day,
"Come into my house," he said to the new
little boy, who had just walked through the gate.
"My house is a safe place, full of love and fun,
and it is here to help you understand
All about your new home.

It was built just for kids, like you and like me,
and it is always full up with children, as you can
see, I am here to help you find your way
Through Heaven’s many streets,
and to find your loved ones
That you have come to meet."

But the little boy’s eyes filled up with tears,
And without even asking, Ethan knew what
was wrong. He threw his arms around the boy
and whispered in his ear, "I know what makes
you cry and shed such bitter tears, You miss
your Mommy and Daddy, and Brothers and
Sisters too." The little child nodded,
he knew not what else to do.

Ethan said, "I’ll tell you a secret,
I miss my family too, Mommy and Daddy,
Evan and Eliott and Eli too. I didn’t want
to leave them, and I fought with all my might,
But my body was to sick to live, and
so my soul took flight. My Lord and Jesus
welcomed me home, and I see family,
friends and pets here, that I didn’t know before.

But it doesn’t make me stop missing them,
But what I say is true,
It won’t seem so very long
until they are here with you.

Until that time, when we are all
together again, We watch over our family,
through the thick and the thin,
We keep our eyes on them, in their
sadness and their grief, And when they
are happy, we laugh and rejoice you see.
They loved us in our life, and in death
that does not change, they will never
forget you, and their lives will never
be the same.

Ethan’s House is built with love,
on Earth as here in Heaven,
My Mommy built an Ethan’s House
to help people like your Mommy too,
As she grieves for me, she helps
others with their loss, I asked if
I could do that too, and got a
"Yes" from the Boss. And so I stay
at Ethan’s House, with my friends to
help me through, And you are always
welcome here, you are our friend too!!!"

The little child wiped his eyes, and
smiled up at Ethan, Who returned the smile,
sun-bright, shook his coppery curls,
took the little child’s hand in his, turned
And took him home.
