Alec at Ethans House
BY Heather L. Olson

A little boy ran out of Ethan's House,
His eyes bluer than the sky.
He laughed, and shouted gleefully,
Holding his hands up high.

Somersaulting in the velvet grass,
Alec stopped and looked around.
There were children playing everywhere,
Running all through Heaven's Playground.

Alec smiled cheerfully, his teeth gleaming
in his face, He got up and dashed over to Ethan,
Who was just beginning a race. The race he
was running; all bigger boys and girls,
And Ethan ran joyfully, the sun shimmering off his curls.

Alec called to Ethan, after the race was run,
Ethan smiled and waved at him,
And came over when he was done.

"What is it Alec," Ethan said, a little
bit concerned, "nothing much, " Alec replied,
"There is something I must learn. You know I
came here when I just a little baby,
I have grown up here, big and strong and happy.
You know I had a birthday, not too long ago,
And I watched my parents and siblings wonder why
I had to go. Ethan, I don't know myself,
why I am here? Would it have been so wrong
for me to grow down there?"

"Alec, only God knows why you came here to grow,
It must be a good reason, He loves us so, you know.
He knows how much our families love us too,
And that is why He is always there for you.
He will answer all your questions; you only
need to ask, and maybe it is time you see,
to give you your own task."

Alec ran off, to put his questions to the Father,
And when he came back to Ethan's House,
His face was filled with Laughter.

He said, "Ethan, I have a brand-new job!
You were so right, I am glad that I asked God.
He answered all my questions; he put my fears
to rest, He hugged me close and told me that
I was his best Most Joyous little Angel,
and now my brand-new chore, is to bring happiness
to my family, like I never did before."

Ethan smiled his sun-bright smile, and said,
"I told you he was great! Now let's go work on your job,
Let's not make your family wait!!"

And Ethan and Alec ran off through the streets,
And Alec sent down Happiness on laughter guided wings.
He sent a smile for Mommy, a happy thought for Dad,
He also sent a happy thought to Corey, the
biggest brother he has! He tickled little Jessica,
until she grinned and giggled, Alec was so thrilled
by this, he laughed and ran and wiggled.

Ethan put his arms around the little boy,
Who looked at his friend, laughed,
And caused the bells all throughout Heaven to ring with Joy.
