A
Twins View From Ethans House
BY Heather L. Olson
It was a happy day
in Heaven,
much like all the rest,
Little Ethan was resting;
his House had been put to the test.
There had been many new children
to welcome that day, some little,
some big, all needed to be shown their way.
He lay back, the green grass mingling
with his curls of burnished gold,
Then a boy dropped down beside him,
one he had known of old.
"Hiya Scott," Ethan said, grinning at his friend.
"Hiya back at you," Scott replied, and said
"Whew, I am glad this day is at its end.
There was so much to do today so much
that needed my special care. Sometimes
I am tired of being a helper, I wonder what
it would have been like down there".
For Scott has a special job at Ethan's House,
cause he is one of a pair.
He helps the twinless twins who come,
whose twins still live back there.
It is not an easy job by far, cause
only a twin can know the powerful bond
that makes a twin a twin, and it survives
all rain and snow. Not even death itself
can destroy this most powerful cord,
And living without your twin can be the
hardest thing in the world.
"I miss Ty, Ethan, and I long to be with him.
We were together from the beginning,
we were never meant to be apart. It's hard
to be without my twin though he is always in my heart".
"I know Scott, I know he needs you,
and you are there for him.
But what I don't know is what it
is like to be a twin. I know I miss
my family, I know you miss yours too,
I know I need you here at Ethan's House
To help me out here too.
The twins who come here, are hurting
and far from home. Their twins back on
earth feel lost and so alone. You help them
through, and show them the way, that from their
twins, never apart will they stray. You know
about the bond that links one twin to another,
And through that bond you are never far
from your brother. You have taught me so
much about twins and twins' love, try not
to forget yourself, someday he will dwell above,
And you will never be separated again".
Scott sighed, "Yes, sometimes I do forget.
I miss my twin so much; it's hard not to regret.
I wasn't there to see my brand new sister Devon,
Or play with Jeffery and Daddy, and kiss my
Mommy goodnight. Ty and I will always be
together no matter what, and I will wait here
at Ethan's House so see him through the gate.
We will both be so grown up by then
it will
be hard to wait. But I will be here, waiting
for him, and then, Ethan you will see,
I will no longer be a "twinless twin",
My twin will be with me!!!"
Ethan smiled his sun-bright smile over
at his friend Scott, as they sat side by
side in the velvet grass outside of Ethan's House.
And Scott smiled back at Ethan, the very same smile
That graced the face his twin Ty, at home on Earth.
