News Paper Article Levy County man drowns in Suwannee A Levy County man apparently drowned Wednesday while swimming with three friends in the Suwannee River. The body of Charles Leroy Brown, 22, was pulled from about 12 feet of water at 4:45 pm. in the Log Landing Park area north of Hart Springs in Gilchrist County. The three others swimming with Brown said he was trying to cross the river shortly before 4 p.m. went under and never resurfaced. Another man swimming in the area tried to help Brown's friends find him but failed. "We aren't sure what happened," said Gilchrist County Sheriff's investigator Bryant Frye. "We don't suspect foul play and we may not know exactly what happened until we get the autopsy results back." A local volunteer diver helped the sheriff's Marine Patrol Unit find and recover Brown's body. |
