What is Bulimia?
Bulimia Nervosa, commonly known as Bulimia, is an eating disorder and a phychological condition in which a person engages in binge drinking (eating large amounts of food in a short period of time) followed by the feelings of guilt, depression, and self condemnation usually to prevent gain weight. This cycle can damage your body organs.
What causes Bulimia?
The cause of bulimia is unknown.
However factors believed to contri-
bute to Bulimia include cultural ideals and social altitudes toward body appearance, self-valuation on body weight and size, and family problems. 30 to 50 percent of people with Bulimia will also have met the criteria for Aneroxia Nervosa.
Who does it affect?
The majority of bulimics are female, adolescent, and from a high socioeconomic group. Adolescents who develop Bulimia are more likely to come from families with a history of eating disorders, physical illness, and other mental health problems, such as mood disorders, and substance disorders.
What are the consequences?
Bulimia Nervosa can cause problems. Probl-
ems like malnutrition, dehydration, diabetes, and there is a whole list of them below.

What types of Bulimia are there?
There are two types, the Purging type, and the Non-Purging type. The purging type is the more common type of bulimia, it involces self induced vomiting, and other ways to rapidly extricate the contents from their body. The Non-purging type is occurs in only 6-8 percent of bulimia causes. It involves doing execessive exercise or fasting after a binge, to counteract the large amount of calories previouisly ingested.
