UPDATED MARCH 2002

IMAF demo team conducted its first demonstration at Collin's school Monday March 25th and Wednesday March 27th as part of Nutrition Awareness Month. The program was set up by Jessica Goldstern who did a fantastic job of organizing events. Each day approximately 200 students watched in awe as the IMAF demo team put on a display of high level martial arts action. The team demonstrated basic karate techniques, Eskrima stick drills as well as board breaking and Eskrima forms that really impressed the audience. Way to go DEMO TEAM members!

Tournament Results- Team IMAF excelled at the 2001 Eastern Regional Full Contact Stick Fighting Championships (see Tournament Results page of this site) Here Zach Borker poses wityh class mates displaying the two medals he wond - First in Stick Fighting and fourth in Forms. Congratulations to all the team members.

Dragon Patch - we are proud to announce that Avi and Akiva Mattenson recently received their "Dragon Patch". This is a proud moment in the school for these children as it takes approximately 8 months to a year to be eligible for the patch. This is a reward for excellent citizenship in both the school and at home. Congratulations Avi and Akiva.

Jump Rope Contest - Congratulations to Caroline Dreyfuss and Jared Arnoff for wining the Jump Rope contest for the month of February 2002. We start each class with a jump rope warmup followed by a contest to determine who can jump the longest without missing a jump. This is based on the "Honor" system where each child sits out when they miss a jump without having to be told. We are proud of all our students as they know Sifu is more concerned with their honesty than their jumping ability. WAY TO GO Zach!

Bakbakan International Tournament Results - March 2002 - Two of our top students, Dave Ferreira & Ken Gruber, took second & first place respectively in their division in the single stick full contact division. Dave dominated the lightweight division while Ken dominated the midleweight divisions. Dave also took second place in the dumog/grappling portion of the tournament as well. See the tournaments page for pictures. Congratulations to both for a great performance!
