Welcome to the March/99 Issue of Eureka's own newsletter - The Eureka Today - this months features include many new things for the homesteaders of Eureka to get involved in. The editorial staff sincerely hope you enjoy this months selection of featured articles.

Included in this months features are the Eureka Banner Exchange, a look at the new GeoPlus Apps, and a word on the upcoming Scrambled Easter Egg Hunt.

Some of our industrious Community Leaders are now working on a Scrambled Easter Egg Hunt. It is currently in the planning stages, and from the information received, promises to be a fun challenge for our Homesteaders to get involved in. If you enjoy puzzles and challenges watch for more news regarding this project, we will keep you posted as more information is released. Contest starts March 20th.

GeoCities Delivers More!

Recently, GeoCities expanded all of the programs and services offered to it's Homesteaders. How does this benefit you? Here in Eureka we see many small and home-based businesses getting their feet wet in web publishing. Until now it was impossible to post anything but a non-commercial home page. That's all changed! If it's been your hearts desire to have a full-blown commercial page to promote your business, but found the cost of posting such a page unaffordable, check again! GeoCities now offers GeoShops, equivalent in size to the GeoPlus page, this program permits you to have the commercial page of your dreams, at very affordable rates, and easy terms.

 GeoShops provides the CGI apps and tools to build, maintain, and run your commercial page. It's never been easier or more affordable, and GeoCities will help promote your small business. Other benefits include the freedom from pop-up advertising and use of the GeoGuide, the option of secure online transaction and use of a registered domain name.

Your assigned Community Leader can provide you with more information on the GeoShops program, and can provide you with links to current GeoShop pages for you to browse. It's changing the face of doing business online and offers an affordable method of getting your business involved in the rapidly expanding realm of e-commerce.

The Eureka Today Banner Exchange

In our neverending search to bring more traffic to your pages, the Community Leaders and Editorial Staff have developed a banner exchange strictly for our readership. We want to help each of our Eureka Homesteaders promote their page. The Banner Exchange will allow you to create the banner of your dreams by elliminating the 8-10k restriction of most banner exchange programs.

The banner rotation is random, but unlike other exchanges, we provide a link to open all the submitted banners to the program. The banners are displayed on the main pages of the Eureka Today, there is no need to add another banner to your pages, all we ask is you place a link (text or graphic) on your page indicating your involvement in the exchange that links back to the newsletter.

 Simply create the banner of your dreams, this can be animated, but must not exceed 50k in size if possible. Upload your completed banner to your Directory through the File Manager, then submit your banners URL and information to the program.

Since this exchange is manually edited, it may take up to 48 hours for your banner to show up. The URL provided for the banner will be checked and if there is any error, or we are unable to locate your banner, we will contact you immediately for the correct URL. This exchange is totally voluntary, but we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity.

You may use the current banner creation you have for the GeoGuide banner exchange, or create a new one. If you are not able to porduce your own banner, you have to option of having one created for you by our crack team of graphic developers. To have a banner created, simply click the radio box in the application that indicates you require graphic assistance.

NOTE: Our graphics department only creates basic banners for this exchange, they are under no obligation to create animation or other effects.
